The Joy of Six! Hull City's summer signings so far..

It's pleasing that Hull City have moved to make six signings so far. Decisive action was needed after so many departures in the summer and this is as active as we dared hope we'd be.

I'm not sure we've signed six players who'll start games but they have promise.

George Long (Age 24 - From Sheffield United) is definitely going to start as number two goalkeeper. However given David Marshall is on a relatively huge wage and City's policy is now to release high earners on contract expiry, Long now has a chance to be the keeper long-term. Callum Burton and Will Mannion will challenge him for that though.

Eric Lichaj (29 - Nottingham Forest) is the one signing who looks like he'll play every week. His experience will be vital with the avergae age of the "senior" squad now being 25. He's whole-hearted, has a lot of character and should establish himself.

Todd Kane (24 - Chelsea) is a loan who could become a permanent signing as he's in his last year at Chelsea. He can apparently cover right and left-back (hopefully better than Ola Aina) but he looks a squad filler. He was very promising at one point but he's now 24 and needs to settle down somewhere. He's on his 9th loan from Chelsea!

Squad churn in the Championship. Hull City have the highest turnover this summer.

Jordy De Wijs (23 - PSV) is a mystery. I'm looking forward to seeing him. He's a big lad who looks imposing and has outstanding pedigree coming through PSV and all of the Dutch youth sides. Can he play? Who knows. He's only 23 so maybe one for the longer term.

Reece Burke (21 - West Ham) is the most exciting addition by far. Another who has outstanding pedigree, caps for several young England sides, He's played in the Championship previously with Bolton, is a good size, mobile and can play. At only 21, I'm not certain he'll play every game but we'd benefit from blooding him and accepting a few errors.

David Milinkovic (24 - Genoa) is our only attacking signing so far. A small, quick winger who'll probably frustrate but has ability on the ball and an eye for goal. Our first picks out wide still look like Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen for now so he might have to be an impact player.

The squad is still definitely short of a strong front man but I don't know if the money is there to get one. Nigel Adkins obviously wants a left-back with Conor Townsend linked. A midfielder to challenge Kevin Stewart and Markus Henriksen is needed too. Plus the Grosicki situation is always transient.

I'm reasonably happy so far though. Now's the time to be greedy!
